The Fashion Design department of DreamZone Centre in Bilaspur visited The Indian Institute of Handloom Technology (IIHT), Champa as a field trip on 1st September, 2017, where the students gained knowledge on:
HANDLOOM WEAVING LAB
Handloom weaving lab was equipped with handlooms, preparatory equipment’s such as Charka, sectional warping machine and sufficient number of handlooms. The students also gain conceptual knowledge of different motions of weaving such as primary, secondary and auxiliary motions.
POWERLOOM WEAVING LAB
Powerloom weaving lab was equipped with preparatory machines such as cone winding, pirn winding, warping, etc. and looms such as semi-automatic looms, ordinary powerloom, automatic powerloom, etc.
DYEING & PRINTING LAB
The students also got an understanding about various techniques such as tie-dye, batik, kalamkari, stencil, spray, and metallic prints, with various classes of dyes on different types of materials. The students prepared a record of their dyed and printed samples of yarn and fabrics respectively with recipes and procedures.
CLOTH ANALYSIS LABORATORY
The students are given cloth samples with different weaves, textures, and patterns for extracting the technical details for its reproduction. Textile testing lab is established with modern electronic textile testing instruments.
